JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to promote road safety through effective and efficient Traffic Law Enforcement operations and operational deployment in the province. The person/s appointed should be able to work independently as well as in a team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 (or equivalent qualification) with a minimum of 1 year practical experience in the field of Traffic Law Enforcement Operations.
Must be in possession of a Basic Traffic Diploma (or equivalent qualification).
A valid driver’s licence.
No criminal record. 
Kindly note there will be substance/drug testing prior to appointment and randomly thereafter.

RECOMMENDATION

Leadership skills.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Enforce Road Traffic, Public Passenger and Transport Legislation.
Examine drivers’ licences and motor vehicles and monitor compliance at Driver Licence Testing Centres (DLTC) and Vehicle testing stations (VTS).
Provide visible traffic control/ policing and ensure crime prevention activities.
Perform of all administrative activities and related duties.


COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of the following:
•National Road Traffic Act (NRTA) 93/96
•National Land Traffic Act (NLTA) 5/2009 
•National Road Traffic Regulations(NRTR) 2000 •Criminal procedures Act (CPA) 51/77
•Average speed over distance (ASOD)
•Excellent communication (written and verbal) and  report writing skills in at least two of the official
 languages of the Western Cape
•Defensive driving skills
•Ability to work under pressure.

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed.
